Barão de São João Laundry
The Estendal team was in residence in Lagos throughout June to bring cinema and art to the parishes of the municipality. We presented four sessions with a program that addresses what it is to be a child, to be a migrant, and to be a woman—reflecting on the housing crisis, the need for revolution, and the value of compassion. We filmed and created with the people of each neighborhood, mixing music with cinema and transforming the screen into a space for encounter, memory, and celebration.
In this session, the public laundry on Rua da Bica, in Barão de São João, hosted the exhibition "Blue Soap, Red Blood," a concert by Mariana Costa, a short film screening, and a DJ set by DJ Solta a Cueca. The short films focused on themes of menstruation, blood, and what it means to be a woman.

Like many women of her age and from her hometown, Maria José was always a homemaker and caregiver for the children and elderly in her family. Between aprons and sewing, she reflects on the female condition.
TEXAS SWITCH

"Texas switch" is a technique that replaces one actor with another without the audience noticing. Here, the substitution is visible. The film reflects on identity, self-perception, and visibility.

Gisberta, a transgender immigrant woman, discovers she is HIV-positive, loses income, becomes homeless, and faces an aggressive group.
In the Colombian Caribbean, the film follows a group of LGBTQIA+ activists who use extravagant performances to fight together against the various social injustices plaguing the region.
